The plunging costs of genomic testing has led to the emergence a new field
The session is preparing for a more comprehensive panel discussion to be led by John Weeks entitled "Pain, Prejudice, and Opioids: Emerging Policy and Integrative Practice". The session will trace the efforts of the military to tackle the long-term challenges of service-related pain and its management (related to natural causes, training, deployment, and combat wounds). The discussion will draw upon the personal experiences of the speaker in fostering and supporting a more comprehensive approach to the understanding, mitigation, self-care, and healthcare management of acute and chronic pain.
Pain is the historic, primary front of integrative care.
Our society is in the midst of an emerging epidemic of chronic Inflammatory Disease affecting nearly 50% of our population. Most of these conditions were virtually nonexistent a little more than a century ago, but have grown exponentially with the rise of modern medial pharmacotherapeutics.
The neurosensory retina is a thin diaphanous structure, no thicker than tissue paper attached to the inner wall of the back of the eye. It is the photographic film of the eye and is a laminated integrated circuit that subserves all aspects of visual perception including high resolution central acuity, motion detection, edge identification, contrast sensitivity, color identification and peripheral vision.
Helping a patient resolve a chronic inflammatory condition is one of the biggest challenges a holistic practitioner faces. Even when patients are very compliant with dietary and lifestyle changes and take all the recommended supplements and medications, inflammation can stubbornly persist.
