This lecture will describe the myths and truths about iodine. Iodine levels have fallen across the U.S. over the last 40 years. These falling levels could explain the epidemic of endocrine disorders including problems with the thyroid, ovary, uterus, breast, prostate, and pancreatic tissue.
When applied to bioinformatics, the generative medicine paradigm (analysis and prediction integrating big data, robust modeling and algorithms) can dramatically improve the practice of precision medicine.

The session is preparing for a more comprehensive panel discussion to be led by John Weeks entitled "Pain, Prejudice, and Opioids: Emerging Policy and Integrative Practice". The session will trace the efforts of the military to tackle the long-term challenges of service-related pain and its management (related to natural causes, training, deployment, and combat wounds). The discussion will draw upon the personal experiences of the speaker in fostering and supporting a more comprehensive approach to the understanding, mitigation, self-care, and healthcare management of acute and chronic pain.

The neurosensory retina is a thin diaphanous structure, no thicker than tissue paper attached to the inner wall of the back of the eye. It is the photographic film of the eye and is a laminated integrated circuit that subserves all aspects of visual perception including high resolution central acuity, motion detection, edge identification, contrast sensitivity, color identification and peripheral vision.
