The Integrative Healthcare Symposium, scheduled to take place September 18-20, 2021 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City, has been canceled by its organizer, Diversified Communications, which also produces Integrative Practitioner.

The decision was made after the organizers learned that, due to the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the New York Hilton Midtown temporarily suspended operations and could not guarantee it would be open in time to host the 2021 event.

The 2021 edition of the Integrative Healthcare Symposium was originally scheduled for January 14-16. Event organizers announced earlier this year that it would be postponed to May 2-4, before postponing again to September 18-20. Event organizers said every effort was made to host an in-person event in 2021.

The 2022 edition of the Integrative Healthcare Symposium will proceed as scheduled from February 17-19, 2022, at the Hilton Midtown in New York City, and feature Andrew Weil, MD, as the keynote speaker. The conference will follow the same date pattern as in previous years, with a pre-conference on Wednesday February 16 and a conference program and exhibit hall opening on Thursday February 17 and ending Saturday, February 19, 2022.

“We were looking forward to hosting an in-person event for our integrative healthcare community and worked diligently over the past several months seeking ways to make the September 2021 edition happen safely,” said Liz Plizga, Diversified Communications Group Vice President. “We are now focused completely on preparing for 2022 and we can’t wait to bring our integrative healthcare community back together next year in New York.”

New York City officials lifted most COVID-19 restrictions in mid-June, as 70 percent of adult New Yorkers had received at least the first dose of the vaccination. Earlier this week, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced New York City would require at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for a variety of settings, including indoor dining, gyms, and performances, a push to put pressure on people to get vaccinated and allow businesses to remain open.
