Influence of 4-week multi-strain probiotic administration on resting state functional connectivity in healthy volunteers

This study investigated the influence of a 4-week multi-strain probiotic administration in whole-brain functional and structural connectivity in healthy volunteers. The probiotic group exhibited increased functional connectivity in the salience network as compared to the control group. Significantly decreased functional connectivity was also observed in the default mode network and middle and superior frontal gyrus network of the probiotic group as compared to placebo and control groups respectively.
