Breaking News: David Perlmutter accepts leadership award at IHSNY19

David Perlmutter, MD, FACN, ABIHM, neurologist, author, and lecturer at Empowering Neurologist, accepted the leadership award this afternoon at the 2019 Integrative Healthcare Symposium in New York City.

The Leadership Award, presented annually at the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, recognizes a pioneer whose contributions have shaped integrative healthcare and paved the way for other practitioners. Notable past recipients include Joseph Pizzorno, ND, Mark Hyman, MD, Mehmet Oz, MD, and Tieraona Low Dog, MD.

Perlmutter is a regular contributor to nationally syndicated TV programs including Oprah, The Today Show, 20/20, and more, and recently played a supporting role in the 2018 Netflix documentary, “The Magic Pill.”

Perlmutter regularly shares his research in academic and peer-to-peer settings, serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and frequently lecturing at professional and academic symposia across the United States. He also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, as well as the Board of Directors for the American College of Nutrition, where he is also a fellow.

Perlmutter has been published extensively in several peer-reviewed scientific journals, and his four New York Times bestsellers, most notably his New York Times bestseller, Grain Brain, have brought his research to the masses and markedly amplified the public-health impact of his work, and with it, that of his peers.

Jeffrey Bland, PhD, FACN, FACB, CNS, president of the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute and long-time friend of Perlmutter’s, presented the award on Friday afternoon.

Perlmutter also led today’s keynote, Lifestyle Choices Chart Your Brain’s Destiny.

“I want to first of all say thank you to everybody,” said Perlmutter. “I owe you all a great deal of gratitude for your support.”
