Spirituality in Healthcare

While typically secular settings, spirituality in healthcare is still possible. Meditative methods that lead to spiritual experiences in the office can positively affect the patients’ moods, sense of meaning, and capacity for resilience.  The placebo literature is looking at new meaning as the variable that causes a brain/mind shift and leads to the physiological “placebo” response.  Spiritual experience is another brain/mind/body shift that can cause new meaning – and may access the same pathways as the placebo effect.

To learn two meditation methods as well as suggestions for bringing this meditative/new meaning work into the clinic and office, listen to the 2014 Integrative Healthcare Symposium recorded presentation with Richard Shaub, PhD: Meditation, Spiritual Experience and Patient Care.
