Winter Holiday Stress- Addressing Susceptibility and Mitochondrial Resilience
For most of us, the winter season is ushered in with the annual changing of the clocks at home and the office, along with our biological circadian rhythm contributing to added physiological stress. Mixing some climate change, a surge of colds and other viruses combined with potential family gatherings further challenges cellular homeostasis essential to sustain wellness. As we wrap up 2021, we are also preparing our patients for a New Year of 2022, finishing up this year with well fueled mitochondria serves as a springboard for greater success.
This presentation will examine how NAD+, melatonin, and other nutritional needs impact mitochondrial and immune function relative to ATP demand to meet the increased burdens of winter and holiday energetic challenges. Modern life leaves us susceptible to insufficient key nutrients and hormonal dysfunction that must exist to fuel ATP levels optimally. It is essential to address existing patient needs relative to health concerns and new additional risks associated with the winter season.
The evidence-based literature will be condensed into an easy-to-implement protocol to help fortify our patients from the wintertime wellness challenges faced by even our most earnest and compliant patients.
Our discussion will include:
- Gain Talking Points for Discussion with Patients relative to Winter/Holiday nutritional and physiological demand.
- Impact on mitochondrial function with changes in melatonin, stress, thyroid hormones, NAD+, and ATP sufficiency.
- Immune and Wellness Susceptibility: A review of the 2018 peer-review journal article on the 11 points of threats to sustained wellness and resilience.
- Strategically setting the stage for a well fueled 2022
