Common Signs and Symptoms of Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroid SymptomsWhile iodine levels in the United States have witnessed a dramatic drop over the past several decades, bromine, perchlorate, and fluoride levels have flourished. This has placed a heavy nutritional burden on the body and increased the risk for pathophysiological change at the cellular level.

Iodine is a critical to achieving optimal thyroid function. Iodine is incorporated into thyroid hormone precursors that combine to create thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Initial hypothyroid symptoms and hypothyroidism with low levels of triiodothyronine and thyroxine and elevation of TSH, thyroglobulin, and reverse triiodothyronine test levels can be the direct result of iodine deficiency.
