Part of integrative cancer care involves practitioners continuing to recommend proper diets and lifestyle measures, still two of the best preventative measures of cancer. Additionally, providers must remain keen to new discoveries that botanicals, possibly more than conventional drugs, may be able to target chemo-resistant cancer stem cells. Even when a patient responds well to conventional treatment, cancer stem cells can mark a return of tumors even more aggressive than the original.
