Environmental-Health-Nursings-LegacyNursing’s legacy, past and present, has always played a role in environmental health advocacy and in creating healthier communities, local to global. Today, with mounting research on how our environment influences health throughout the lifecycle, how do we, as nurses and as health educators, integrate this often missing link into our practice. This session explores the links to many chronic issues we address today including obesity, neurological conditions, and healthy aging and the role of epigenetics and also introduces an environmental assessment tool to use with patients, families, and communities.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explore the role of nurses in environmental health education
  2. Analyze current research on environmental influences on epigenetics
  3. Examine how nurses impact environmental health policy, local to global
