Isoquercetin: A Novel and Bioavailable Flavonoid Supplement(2)
Flavonols occur naturally in many plant foods
and are common components of our daily diet, with powerful
antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The most common
flavonol in the diet is quercetin, which is especially abundant
in onions, apples and kale. Like other flavonols, quercetin
occurs in foods not as an aglycone, but as glycosides with sugars
bound at different positions on the molecule. Isoquercetin is a
naturally-occurring, bioavailable form of quercetin that is safe
and many times more bioavailable than quercetin aglycone. This
presentation will review the differences between the forms, and
the advantages and indications for this novel, natural
bioflavonoid. Jeremy Appleton, ND is a licensed naturopathic
physician and nutraceutical industry professional. He is the
author of several books and has published hundreds of articles.
He has been the nutrition department chair at the National
College of Natural Medicine and is a founding contributor of
Healthnotes Newswire. Dr. Appleton is presently the Director of
Scientific Affairs at LEF Clinical Research.

Managing Cortisol Levels for Overall Health
Chronically elevated cortisol levels have been
implicated in a multitude of conditions, including coronary
artery disease, cardiomyopathy, insulin resistance, diabetes,
depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, and
overweight/obesity. Acting as both a mediator and an inhibitor in
the body's stress response, cortisol can cause significant damage
to major systems of the body when stress is left unchecked.
Managing cortisol levels requires a comprehensive understanding
its effects, its fluctuations, and the targeted nutritional
strategies that can restore optimal adrenal gland function and
directly lower cortisol. Dr. Holly Lucille is a nationally
recognized licensed Naturopathic Physician, author and educator.
She graduated from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine
in Tempe, AZ where she received the prestigious Daphne Blayden
Award and is the past president of the California Naturopathic
Doctor's Association. She has worked with the LA Free Clinic and
recently was awarded the Southwest College of Naturopathic
Medicine Legacy Award for her "contribution to the advancement
and development of the field of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr.
Lucille is on the clinical staff of Renaissance Malibu, an
addiction and recovery center, and on the faculty of the Global
Medicine Education Foundation. A member of the Enzymatic Therapy
Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Lucille maintains her private
practice, Healing from within Healthcare, in Los Angeles. A
frequent lecturer and guest on TV and Radio shows, Dr. Lucille
has been featured on Lifetime Television for Women and the
Discovery Health Channel. She is the author of Creating and
Maintaining Balance: A Women's Guide to Safe, Natural, Hormone
Health. (IMPAKT Health, 2004) and recently joined forces with Jon
Benson, the author of Fit Over Forty to develop "NaturaPause" an
informational audio program focusing on nutrition and exercise to
optimize normal hormonal transitions including menopause and
andropause.
