Dr. Frank Lipman is the founder and director of the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City, a center whose emphasis is on preventive health care and patient education.
He received his initial medical training in South Africa, qualifying in 1979. He then worked at Baragwaneth Hospital, the largest hospital in Africa and at a hospital in Kwandebele, a rural area in South Africa. He imigrated to the United States in 1984 and became board certified in internal medicine and served as Chief Medical Resident in his final year of residency at Lincoln Hospital in N.Y.C.
While practicing western medicine, he became more and more aware of both the weaknesses and strengths of his training. He then began to study Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Biofeedback, Meditation, Yoga and Functional Medicine. He subsequently initiated complementary therapies at Betances Health Unit, a community clinic in N.Y.C., as well as at Gramercy Park Sports Medicine before founding the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center. He now practices Integrative Medicine incorporating his knowledge of the many systems and modalities he has studied. Since opening his Wellness Center in 1992, Dr Lipman has developed a large, successful practice.
