Treating the cause not the effect: The connection among diseases

Description: Twentieth century medicine became extraordinarily good at treating each disease as an isolated pathology. Twenty first century medicine is emerging to recognize that this model of independent diseases that are each treated by separate sub-specialties does not adequately describe the nature of most chronic diseases. The new model to describe chronic diseases is built upon the principles of system biology that views the body as a web of interacting organ systems.
