ACCMER_AUSSouthern Cross University (SCU) and the University of Queensland (UQ) joined together in 2001 to establish a collaborative research and education centre, the Australian Centre for Complementary Medicine Education & Research (ACCMER).  ACCMER is strategically placed to claim a leadership position in complementary medicine education and research because it has access to a well balanced orthodox and complementary health discipline base provided by its partners, UQ and SCU.

One node of the Centre, involved in both research and education, is based in Brisbane within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Queensland. A second node, also involved in research and education, is based within Natural and Complementary Medicine in the Division of Health and Applied Sciences at Southern Cross University in Lismore, New South Wales.

Both universities have a strong and internationally recognized profile in their respective areas of expertise.  This partnership is unique and is a world first for university collaboration in complementary medicine.
